SUMMARY:2nd Annual Conference “ONE COMMUNITY GUAM”
DESCRIPTION:Dear Diverse Community Partners: \n  \nOn behalf of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Districts of Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands\, you are cordially invited to the 2nd Annual Conference – “One Community Guam”:  Connecting Employers and Their Employees with Government Opportunities\, to be held on Friday\, July 1\, 2016\, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.\, at the Hilton Guam Resort & Spa – Micronesian Room\, in Tumon.  This conference is sponsored by the U.S. Attorney’s Office and Guam Department of Labor\, and is a follow-up to our “One Community Guam”:  Engaging our Community in Crime Prevention\, Strengthening Protections for Vulnerable Populations\, and Reentry Efforts Through Workforce Development Strategies” training held in June 2015.  The Conference will focus on those issues discussed and identified by our “One Community Guam” Working Group as critical to our prevention\, reentry and workforce development efforts\, including current issues and trends in labor and employment\, federal contract compliance\, access to military bases\, reentry and other related issues. \n  \nMore specifically\, subject matter experts from within the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) organizations on Guam will present information on contractual\, legal and policy requirements regarding base access in Guam and the local procedures used to implement these requirements: \n  \n– What DoD contracts say about access \n– DoD / U.S. Department of the Navy (DoN) / Joint Region Marianas (JRM) polices covering base access \n– Installation specific application access policies \n– Appeal of denial process and information \n  \nIn addition\, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC); U.S. Department of Labor; U.S. Department of Homeland Security\, Homeland Security Investigations; and U.S. Department of Homeland Security\, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will discuss employment and labor laws and trends\, compliance and regulatory issues and processes\, and an overview of the immigration process.  Other participating panel members include the Guam Department of Labor\, Guam Contractors Association (GCA) and GCA Trades Academy who will discuss local regulatory issues and processes\, challenges and best practices. \n  \nThe Conference is free and seats are limited; the registration deadline is June 24\, 2016.  Please register online by clicking on the Register for Conference link below. \nRegister for Conference \n2nd Annual Conference “ONE COMMUNITY GUAM”\nConnecting Employers and their Employees with Government Opportunities \nFriday\, July 1\, 2016 \nRegistration from 7:00 am to 8:00 am – Conference from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm \nHilton Guam Resort & Spa – Micronesian Room \n202 Hilton Road Tamuning\, Guam 96913 \n  \nThank you and we look forward to your participation. \nSincerely\, \n  \nAlicia A.G.
